The SmartICE Pilimmaksaqniq Sikulirijimik/Operator Training Program is designed to provide the training and resources that a SmartICE Sikuliriji/Operator needs to perform the roles and responsibilities of this position, including technical expertise, problem solving approaches, communication skills and traditional land-based knowledge. The course is designed to be taught face-to-face in communities by local SmartICE staff and to include local knowledge and input from community members. The course material available on the Learning Management System (LMS) is meant to provide teaching and learning support to both the trainer and trainee, as well as access to additional learning resources.
Pilimmaksaqniq Sikulirijimik translates to “training on to be a worker to deal with ice” and is the Inuktitut name for the Operator Training Program.
Sikuliriji, meaning “one that deals with ice”, is the Inuktitut term for a trained SmartICE Operator.
